A while back, OK a few months back, I’ve had the pleasure of being invited for a “special” lunch cooked by the one and only Special Maryam, the amazing young chef who is makes the luscious bagels and melt-in-your-mouth fresh pastas of Maria Rustica and, the one behind the menu of the one and only Bao, which I’ve had the pleasure in sinking my teeth into several times and if you’ve read my review you’d know how much I’ve enjoyed it.Lucky me headed to a “secret” rooftop in Kuwait City, on a 31st floor overlooking a dazzling 360degrees view of Kuwait’s capital. Is there a meningitis epidemic in Kuwait?

By | January 4, 2012

OK for some reason this post keeps erasing its contents. Let me rewrite it again.

I read somewhere that a worked from a supermarket had collapsed and died from meningitis. Meningitis is basically a disease that effects the thing that covers the brain and the spinal cord and is very dangerous. Now I am not one to Read more »

Why I’ll Never Ever Write a Love Letter Again… EVER!

By | November 1, 2011

When I was packing my husband’s bags for 7ajj I had this overwhelming feeling of wanting to surprise him with something when he unpacks. I thought about stuffing the No3man dolly but then I was afraid No3man would decide to stay in Mecca and never want to come back. I thought about writing him a love letter, then I immediately remembered WHY I have sworn never to write the man a love letter again. As a matter of fact I have Read more »

A Dangerous drive home…

By | October 6, 2011

Two days ago as I was driving home from work I was stuck in traffic behind this waneet. To be frank I got jittery and scared and wanted to switch lanes ASAP for those metal poles he had lying there unprotected could fly through my windshield the next time he presses the brake pedals on his car. Serious damage could be inflicted on me and its really dangerous. His driving wasn’t the best either!

The moment I moved my car away from him, I was behind this cement trunk!

This huge truck was overloaded with cement bags. Unsecured in any manner possible and overflowing all over the edges. It was driving and swerving and I was sweating in fear and trying to get away. If one of those cement bags fly off and with the velocity of the truck, it would be very destructive especially if it hit my windshield.

I am not sure if there is a law against securing truck’s load before driving them. Is there? If there is then I would report those two reckless drivers! If there isn’t then WHY ON EARTH NOT? Why can’t they use ropes, or lessen their loads, or use a bigger truck to drive around with their dangerous shipments instead of endangering lives unnecessarily?

On a positive note I saw this car on the road as well and it made me laugh 😀 Y7leelhom…

Wrapping Iranian Bread with Newspaper

By | September 7, 2011

I don’t know about you but every time I buy discs of fresh Iranian bread and see the khabbaz wrap them up in a piece of newspaper I cringe. All that ink on the newspaper must not react well with the heat coming from the bread! It is quite unhealthy but not always do I have a bag or a towel to wrap my bread with.

Some khababez make special bread sleeves and don’t use newspapers which I often try to buy from them. I think there should be a law that forces all of them to NOT use newspapers. I am pretty sure that eating the newspaper ink is dangerous and cancer causing.

Bedena!?

By | January 20, 2011

Yesterday my husband’s phone began ringing. and ringing.  A strange number was calling… now who might that be?

He picks it up and a guy is calling from some “real estate agency”?! Yes?

He is asking my husband if he is interested in buying an estate in 6 October city in Egypt?! Flats and houses are available to buy… why not come and buy!!!

My husband declined of course. He was puzzled though, where on earth did they get his number from!?! and why now? one day after the announcement of the Amiri Grant?! How convenient! When people are still thinking about what to do with that money comes that call to lure us into buying… maybe we have five kids… 7000 KD is like 140,000 Egyptian Pounds… would it get us anything!? Maybe as  downpayment it would… and whose to tell those callers are for real? Or selling us estates for real?! He can take the money as a downpayment then POOF! mo?

One of my twitter friends told me a guy called trying to sell  her lands in Oman yesterday as well… Did anyone call you offering you something to buy? Be careful… be very careful… if ur buying anything make sure it’s through a well known authentic 100% seller and not some bogus caller…

It’s just one thousand KD! it will not be enough for us to buy a flat in Egypt! How much do flats cost there anyway?!
