Ramadan Preparations: The Samboosa Making

By | July 3, 2012

I can never read/smell/see spaghetti in any medium without craving spaghetti pomodoro immediately. Read more »

Picture of the Week: Kiwi

By | April 30, 2012

Though its a “negative calorie” food that aids in weight loss. Though it has a gorgeous green hue that I adore. Though people like it and eat it with a spoon or drink its juice. I cannot stand it.

The taste, and seeds, of the Kiwi scratch at my throat in the exact same way the Kiwi skin scratches against my hand. I love most fruit kinds but I have a really hateful relationship with Kiwi. Its best fruit partner, the pineapple, is my friend though.

Do you like Kiwi? Or does it scratch at your throat as well?

Due to a recent visit to Wafra farms by my husband we have an huge supply of all types of vegetables in the fridge. Diet Care’s National Day’s Gift Basket

By | February 28, 2012

During the holidays I’ve had a knock on my apartment door then came a delivery guy bearing a bread basket filled with healthy goodies from Diet Care.

An assortment of sandwiches, Tik Delight, Strawberry Cheesecake, and a slice of the Kuwaiti flag cake. All low in fat and calories and have 0 trans fat. Given that we would be stuffing our faces while cooped up in the house for a few days what better way to do it that with diet friendly stuff?

The sandwiches were really good and my husband loved the desserts. Thank you Diet Care so much for the healthy basket. It would be a great thing to take to a gathering of dieting people :)

Review: Firin “Gluten Free” Bakery’s Goodies

By | December 14, 2011

A few months back I read a tweet about a new bakery that was going to open soon called “Firin Bakery” that specializes in Gluten Free baked goods! Needless to say I followed them immediately and even drove all the way to their branch in Hawali to check them out but they weren’t open yet.

Months passed and I totally forgot about the place until I went to Pretty Little Things exhibition (post). On my way out I was handed a goody bag with a box of freshly baked good from Firin Bakery -even though they weren’t participating in the exhibition-. The next evening I was starving and I decided I better try them out, so I made my self some tea and sat down with the box planning to eat only the two mini cupcakes, maybe take a picture or two for this post.

The thing is, erm, well you see I thought they being gluten free and all wouldn’t be that soft or good like usual cakes. I was very much mistaken. Within minutes I had eaten the mini chocolate cake, the mini carrot cake, the BIG apple cake slice, and the top of the blueberry muffin. Nothing was left to take pictures off except the remains of the bluebery muffin. I polished off the box, literally!

Forget the gluten free part. The cakes were very good and very dewy and moist and brimming with taste in comparison to other cake makers, gluten free or not. I enjoyed every single bite and I am planning to go back for some more! The fact that they are gluten free thus not made with wheat meant they were a tad lighter than other cakes and muffins!

I am so glad and so proud of this bakery. Finally! I will go back for a more detailed review soon insha2 Allah! Meanwhile if you are interested you can order from firin bakery by visiting their website www.firin.co or by calling 2266100. Just stay away from the carrot cupcake, it tasted a bit weird.

Shino ‘3adakom Elyoom?

By | November 3, 2011

Its getting cold, its almost noon, and I am hungry. All I can think of is lunch! Thursday is here and the long weekend is about to start! What are you planning for lunch? On the plane? in the Airport? Eating in the office? Bel zwara? At home? Skipping lunch? Already in a cafe abroad 😀

So let me ask you the eternal daily q8y question: ‘Shino ‘3adakom?’ I am craving Spaghetti! Long slippery strands of spaghetti bathing in rich tangy tomato sauce and sprinkled with cheese <3 I want to put my fork in the nest of pasta, twirl it around until I have a nice spaghetti ball dripping with tomato sauce, then devouring the bite while splashing sauce ever where and having it drip on my face. Then when I am done with the spaghetti I want to take a piece of bread and dip it in the remainder of the sauce and wipe the plate clean.

Good Saturday Morning…

By | October 29, 2011

Good Saturday morning 😀

The weather keeps getting better and better! Wow! Its simply a waste to stay cooped up inside especially given that its the last day of the weekend and we will be stuck at work or school tomorrow!

What are you having for breakfast today? I am craving a tall stack of fluffy pancakes drowned in chocolate with a big fat cup of coffee, mmmm <3
