To start off let me clarify one thing, this is not an ad. I’m a vegetarian living in Kuwait, a foodie, and I love eating out. I do not believe in house help or enslaving humans in the name of housekeeping, therefore I have to fend for myself to find something to eat after working for eight hours a day and returning home by 4 P.M. I am not shy to say I love eating out, we are the capital of 8000+ restaurants after all! Why Kuwait isn’t the capital of the culinary world still is beyond me, an overdue movement that I hope should start soon. Read more »

Breakfast at C-Omar in the Avenues

By | June 16, 2013

Growing up in the 80’s meant watching a lot of Egyptian movies and TV serieses. Whenever I was watching and they had breakfast, I’d wish I was joining them at the table and eating from their breakfast, always plates laden with food and people sharing. Therefore when I knew that the modernised Egyptian-themed restaurant C-omar began to serve breakfast, I wanted to go and see what they had to offer.  Read more »

A while ago I’ve been walking in the Souk district of the Avenues mall when I saw a boarded up coming soon restaurant under the name of “C-Omar”. C is a word used in Egypt for mister and if I’m not mistaken there is a black and white movie by the name of C-Omar.  Therefore C-Omar was clearly a new Egyptian restaurant and judging by the modern looking design and my love for Egyptian food, I knew I will keep an eye out for its opening.  Read more »

Shino ‘3adakom Elyoom?

Thursday is here and the weekend is about to start! Surprisingly it is still cold outside, almost too cold to sit outdoors! What are your plans for lunch? Eating in the office? Bel zwara? At home? Skipping lunch? Plaza el9all7iya?

Well for once I am writing this post after I’ve had my lunch. It was kinda lonely: a falafel sandwich alone in my cubicle at work. But then it was a falafel sandwich, my most favorite sandwich of all times!

Have we had this discussion before? That I adore falafel sandwiches especially if they are in a cloud soft round pita bread? Drenched with tangy Tahina sauce that drips on your face while you bite into the pita? The crunch of cucumbers as you chew against the softness of the bread and the smoothness of the tahina is one experience that makes my veins throb with happiness. Mmmm.
