Last time I was in Dubai I wanted to see the Gift ATM that sells gifts 24 hours in S*uce Gifts shop. The address said ‘Wasl Square’ a place I’ve never been before but when I did go I kept going back. Wasl Square is a cosey modern residential project located at the intersection of Wasl Road and Safa Park, with an open space that hosts cafes with outdoors seating and open plus a nice collection of stores and restaurants. For a while now I kept hearing raving reviews about a Jones the Grocer, an Australian franchise restaurant/deli/gourmet grocery shop that’s recently opened up in Dubai. I’ve seen pictures and read the reviews and could tell it was an excellent popular place that I’d love to visit. Just before the start of the Eid holiday Heil & Zafa’arn, a local bakery selling traditional Kuwaiti desserts and sweets, sent me a big basket filled with their goodies. Just before the Eid holiday I received a lovely Eidiya from the lovely Lamya Al-Farsi, the owner of Lamy’s Perfumes, a local perfume making business. I’ve had the pleasure to meet Lamya a while back in a perfume exhibition where she mixed perfumes from different scents on the spot (post). Lamy’s perfumes are well known for their different and sometimes daring scents, you wouldn’t find any other Kuwaiti perfume maker who would make scents like ice cream or cheesecakes for example. I received mine a few days ago, a bucket with my blog’s name in Arabic spray painted in red plus Triangle restaurant’s name and logo in black. The bucket was quite heavy and chock full of goodies. Cucinare Bakery is a new bakery that opened up quite recently in Kuwait. Cucinare is is co-owned by the beloved Chef Hanouf Al-Balhan and the sweet Ala’a Al-Jarki and is located in Sha’ab yet still in its soft opening phase.
