For a while now almost every bookworm social media account I’m following was rearranging their collection of books in a colour-coded book theme so the end result would resemble a rainbow. I have an ancient photo of my bookshelves when I was a kid back in the early 90’s, my collection of some magazines were arranged Rainbow style but I have to look for the picture and scan it before I can share it with you, most likely in this post. Anyway, since my bookshelves are overflowing and organising the books in a readable manner became one messy affair, I thought I’d dedicate myself to this task and arrange all my books rainbow-style. After all, how hard can it be, right?  Read more »

Breakfast at Karak Gholam

My friend and fellow blogger Ansam has been busy lately. A couple of weeks ago she  finally was going to share her love of food with the rest of us with the launch of “Karak Gholam”, Kuwait’s newest Karak cafe where Ansam is a co-owner. Karak is a drink that’s basically tea, milk, sugar, and Indian spices cooked together. Rather, its the equivalent of a spiced chai latte and I’m not sure if Karak is the official Indian name for it but its been forever popular in neighbouring GCC countries like Qatar and the UAE and is currently taking Kuwait by storm.  Read more »

By | August 20, 2013

odrsid-004Whenever I am in Dubai I make sure to visit Gallery Lafayette’s home section and spend a few hours lost between the quirky merchandise they have on display. One particular section that I adore is a little corner with trendy Arabian and Middle Eastern furniture and home accessories with a modern twist. This past visit I was admiring a tea flask and asking the sales lady if it came in any other colour when she said they might have some in their original store! They have an original store? I’m still in Ramadan preparation mode, I can’t wait till the Holy month of Ramadan is here and I usually celebrate by buying new set of tableware, trays, and tea servers. See-through clear bags are not new per say, they’ve come and gone on the fashion scene several times before. I remember sporting a big see-through blue on my first day of college back in 1998. These days everyone is Read more »

Someday Cafe opened earlier in January 2013 and ever since their opening I’ve heard good stuff about their food and their presentation. They’ve sent me a cute invitation before (post) and I’ve had the pleasure of dining there once. Their hot chocolate, sandwiches, tiny pancakes, atmosphere, and overall branding are very impressive. Ever since I set foot in Frotune Cookie EmChakNam last week (post) I’ve been thinking about the Fred‘s little skull shot glass. I have a thing for Fred‘s merchandise, I like almost every single one of them as they cater to my wacky taste (post) therefore couldn’t resist anymore and went back and got me one and made it into my newest and current favourite espresso cup!  Read more »
