where can i buy Lyrica tablets mrr-001

I received an invitation to attend the advanced screening of the movie “Rush” by Cinescape which took place yesterday and since I love everything movie related I was on my seat at 8:15 P.M. sharp waiting for the movie to start. Frankly, I didn’t know what the movie was about because I have a policy regarding not watching trailers anymore but I knew it was about car racing, based on a true story, its soundtrack is composed by Hans Zimmer, is starring Chris Hemsworth, and there is popcorn involved as well. What more could you ask for?  Read more »

Shakshooka Pop-up Market is Back!

By | September 25, 2013

tsmib-010

Back in June I managed to visit the very last Shakshooka pop-up farmers market before the start of summer and I fell in love with everything shakshooka! The concept, the carefree spirit, the mystery of waiting for the next market and not knowing where it’s going to be until just before it happens, and most importantly the food items you could buy: all organic, healthy, natural, and delicious! Then summer came and went and fall arrived, bringing the Shakshooka market back! Read more »

Recipe: Quinoa with Okra Stew

By | September 23, 2013

rqwos-002

Ever since I began cooking quinoa I really wanted to use it with one particular dish, maraq bamiya (okra stew). You see, if quinoa passes the maraq bamiya test, it can reside their proudly on my pantry for the rest of time, banishing every last morsel of rice from the premises. The dieticians in Kuwait have been urging us to replace rice with quinoa and I already tried that twice with the quinoa mushroom risotto and the quinoa with dill & broad beans (bajela w shbent) and both time quinoa posed as the perfect protein-packed fiber-laden replacement to white rice therefore I Read more »

Movie Review: Malavita

By | September 22, 2013

mrmakatf-001

When Robert De Niro and Michelle Pfeiffer star in a movie, you expect it to be one worth watching and their latest movie, Malavita a.k.a. The Family, was one good movie I watched recently. The movie is about the family of an ex-mafia boss who ratted out on his friends therefore the FBI had to change his identity and hide him and his family all they way in Normandy, France where they should be able to live in peace, but their old violent habits happen to sneak back on them and eventually, their old mafia friends discover their whereabouts and come back for revenge. Recipe: Quinoa & Grilled Bell Peppers Salad

By | September 16, 2013

rqbs

Since I’ve been having quinoa, almost on daily basis, for the past few weeks I always am on the look for new ways of eating it. My favourite quinoa dishes are almost always salads and this one, with grilled bell peppers a.k.a. capsicums. On the day I took these pictures I only had some yellow bell peppers in the fridge but my absolute favourites are grilled red bell peppers. Read more »

Trying Kuwait’s First Ramen Burger at Diner Restaurant

By | September 16, 2013

rdkrb-027

Last week was the opening diner, a new burger place in Kuwait City and the newest addition to the thriving and already saturated burger scene in town. Why would I go to another burger place? Because they are the first in Kuwait to serve the Ramen Burger, the latest burger craze that took NYC by a storm, replacing the bun with Ramen noodles.

Visiting Dubai’s Ramadan Night Market

By | September 11, 2013

rmid-019

I’ve always heard that the exhibitions that are held in the UAE were spectacular and amount of effort that goes into those expos was unparalleled. I’ve never had the chance to go to an expo in Dubai before but while I was visiting this past Eid holiday I learned from the instagram account of fellow blogger Karamillah from the Abu Dhabi, that her cookie business, K’s Cookies, will be participating in a Ramadan Night Market expo in Dubai and I knew I had to pass by and check it out. Recipe: Quinoa with Broad Beans & Dill

By | September 9, 2013

rqb-022

Growing up, rice with broad beans & dill or what we call in Kuwait “Bajela w Shbent” was a favourite lunch dish of mine. It is traditionally made with chunks of meat and daqqos tomato sauce at home but I’ve always opted to mix it with low fat yoghurt instead. I was craving it the other day but since I’m still on the path of losing the Ramadan weight and testing out quinoa in recipes I’ve decided to make the dish, subsituting rice with quinoa and see how it would turn out. To my surprise the recipe turned out to be a success and had I not made the dish myself I wouldn’t have realised I was actually eating quinoa!  Read more »

Dinner At Atari Asian Tapas Restaurant

By | September 8, 2013

daaat-006

The first thing that comes to mind when you hear the word “Atari” is the Atari video games we used to play in the very early 80’s, therefore when  a new restaurant with the name Atari opened up a while back the name did catch my attention and made me want to dine there, and I finally had the chance to do so last Thursday.  Read more »

The Butcher’s Den Bloggers Tasting

By | September 7, 2013

bdmt-011

Last week we had the pleasure of being invited to a private tasting event of the new menu at The Butcher’s Den. I’ve been to the Butcher’s Den before and liked it a lot although the service was a bit clunky since they were in their soft opening phase still. Now that they are operating full time I expected the service to be top notch and indeed it was. Read more »

“We Are the Millers” movie is currently third on the US box office chart for the fourth week since it’s release and since it just arrived to the cinemas of Kuwait I wasted no time booking tickets for a movie with such box office success. Read more »

My Diet Motivation Idea

By | September 4, 2013

mdm-001
How do you motivate yourself while dieting to continue on the path of losing weight? God knows dieting is not easy especially living in a country where our number one hobby is creating glorious dishes and consuming them. To me, my number one reason for losing weight is sadly not health-related although I’m beginning to rethink the order of that priority, it’s looking good in my clothes and being able to buy what I want without worrying about sizes that would keep me dieting. Wasl Square in Dubai

By | September 4, 2013

waslsq-006-2

Last time I was in Dubai I wanted to see the Gift ATM that sells gifts 24 hours in S*uce Gifts shop. The address said ‘Wasl Square’ a place I’ve never been before but when I did go I kept going back. Wasl Square is a cosey modern residential project located at the intersection of Wasl Road and Safa Park, with an open space that hosts cafes with outdoors seating and open plus a nice collection of stores and restaurants. Recipe: Quinoa & Pomegranate Salad

By | September 3, 2013

quinoapomsal

I’m still experimenting with using quinoa and I realised that I prefer eating cold quinoa mixed in some sort of salad instead of hot quinoa as I’m still not used to the taste of hot quinoa. Yesterday I decided to try and make a quinoa salad so basically I just grabbed whatever was in my fridge and chopped it up to make a nice healthy low-fat quinoa salad with ruby-like pomegranates seeds peeking through. The Avenues Summer Carnival

By | September 2, 2013

avcr-029

When I first set foot on the Grand Avenues during the Avenues construction site visit, I could almost imagine a European like walkway lined with cafes and international shops. Then when the Avenues did finally open and became the place to be in Kuwait, it did feel like you were travelling every time you walk down it’s vast corridors. Last week, Read more »

Dinner at Pintxos Restaurant

By | September 1, 2013

dapk-021

There, at the very end of the Seif strip of restaurant overlooking the Seif Palace, sits a restaurant space that now has the name Pintxos. Many restaurants have come and gone in this particular spot, an Italian one if I recall correctly, then another Japanese one. None of the restaurants that opened in that spot were successful even though the area is popular and the restaurant space is big with lovely outdoors seating. It wasn’t meant to be I suppose. Movie Review: 2 Guns

By | September 1, 2013

mrtg

One of my all time favourite actors is Denzel Washington. I’ve never been to a movie of his that I didn’t like, perhaps only Safe House and I found myself liking it eventually and watching it again when I thought I wouldn’t. Therefore when the trailer for 2 Guns kept appearing on movie screens I didn’t care much for what seems to be another Mexican drug cartel movie, but thought I’d see what would Denzel bring to the drug cartel movie. Cooking the Perfect Scrambled Eggs for Breakfast

By | August 29, 2013

segrs-003

A long time ago, when Google Reader was alive and kicking, I remember a fellow blogger posted a video of Gordon Ramsey preparing scrambled eggs. The only way I can actually crave and eat eggs is by eating them scrambled and not every restaurant can make them the way I consider them scrambled. You know yellow, creamy, with soft peaks and the entire thing in one piece. Ever since I saw the video I’ve wanted to make scrambled eggs at home but I never really got the chance to try and cook them until last weekend. Read more »

Breakfast at Jones the Grocer in Dubai

By | August 28, 2013

bajtgid-008

For a while now I kept hearing raving reviews about a Jones the Grocer, an Australian franchise restaurant/deli/gourmet grocery shop that’s recently opened up in Dubai. I’ve seen pictures and read the reviews and could tell it was an excellent popular place that I’d love to visit. Therefore when I was in Dubai I made sure I head over for breakfast and go early, I’ve heard they are always busy with eager diners. Read more »

Recipe: Mushroom & Peas Quinoa Risotto

By | August 27, 2013

ticq-006

One of my birthday resolutions for this year was to become healthier, not for the sake of weight loss but for my overall well-being. I’m not twenty one anymore, not even 30, and this means my supply of youthful health is running out fast and the time has come to be smart about my choices. I remember an old man selling ice cream out of a cart in the street that we met last year. I wanted an ice cream -well it’s me after all- and my husband didn’t. The old man, with his beautiful toothless smile and deeply wrinkled face, told my husband to eat an ice cream while he still could. Read more »

Heil & Zafa’aran Eid Breakfast Basket

Just before the start of the Eid holiday Heil & Zafa’arn, a local bakery selling traditional Kuwaiti desserts and sweets, sent me a big basket filled with their goodies. The basket had a greeting card attached to it with the words “Eid Breakfast” printed on it in Arabic, and a lavish Eid breakfast basket it was indeed! Read more »

The Moons of Forgiveness Display in Dubai Mall

By | August 26, 2013

There is something magical about Arabian calligraphy, I’ve always stopped and admired a beautifully written letter in Arabic for as long as I could remember, and there are many different fonts, each spectacular in it’s own way. When I was last in Dubai I was walking around in Dubai Mall when I saw a spectacular sight that made me stop and pay attention. Read more »
