Aramex, this is where we part ways!

2003 was the golden year for internet shopping in Kuwait. The days where I was in Aramex’s office daily picking up huge shipments with competitive prices from all over the world, going home and enjoying the contents. Every thing was smooth and easy. I even subscribed to Vogue and Marie Claire magazines and I got them monthly, promptly using Aramex.

They raised their prices, over and over again. They suddenly discovered the Kuwaiti customs and made a big point of having shipments stalled there. All the while I stuck by them, made excuses for them, even stopped buying stuff online just because I didn’t want to go through the hassle of the Aramex frustration.

I am sad to say that this shipment that would be arriving sometime in the next  millennia would be my last with Aramex. Not that it would matter to them seeing that many depend on them still, but in my case I have had enough.

I order stuff and have it delivered via FedEx or DHL, it arrives in 2 days WITH CUSTOMS! The last time I ordered with Aramex it took the shipment FOREVER to arrive because it was continuously taken off the plane in New York.

I ordered my birthday gift for my self, a ton of cooking books to prepare for Ramadan and my new diet (post). It arrived to my Aramex mailbox on the 15th of July, Shipped out of New York on the 17th of July, arrived to Dubai on 18 July and has been stuck there ever since!

I’ve been calling, over and over, every day they tell me the shipment is supposed to arrive this morning to Kuwait, then its just customs. Yet the shipment is still in Dubai. On Tuesday 19 July I saw the Activity Update “Shipment forwarded to Ardia, Kuwait” so I was happy. I called Aramex’s office at 6 PM to make sure it was in Ardia so I can go pick it up only to get the answering machine that they are closed.

Weird, I call over and over, I know they close at 8 PM not 5 as the answering machine said. I drove all the way to Ardiya and reached there at 8:30 PM to find them open saying they close at 9. I ask to pick up my shipment and they say its just being forwarded to Ardiya from Dubai, it is still in Dubai and didn’t make it here. Well excuse me, you could have explained that on the PHONE had you picked it up.

They also told me it was arriving on the plane tomorrow, Wednesday the 20th.

I called yesterday morning they told me it had arrived in Kuwait, but it didn’t go to customs yet. OK fare enough.

I call today, and GUESS WHAT! Apparently the plane was overstocked with passengers luggage, which has priority, and my shipment was taken OFF THE PLANE! Since there was no other plane coming out of Dubai that day, the shipment is STILL IN DUBAI SINCE 18 JULY!

Are you kidding me? The same fiasco again? When is it getting on a plane insha2 Allah?! So you are charging me 42 KD which I’ve already paid online for a shipment when you don’t even have your own plane and have to rely on commerial planes?

What do I need to do to get the bloody shipment out of Dubai? Go there my self? Take it out and get it home with me? Seriously?

By the way I asked your operator on the phone today when it was supposed to be rescheduled, and she kept me on the phone for a long time, too long a time, very long in fact that a user came to my office, I showed him something, and he went away while I was on hold. I hung up the phone later on not knowing what would become of my package. Knowing you Aramex, I am not surprised with your delayed services. It will not arrive before Ramadan. It was a Birthday gift, but its my really for I should have ordered it a month in advance because your shipping means hitchhiking for luggage space availability on airplanes in the summer time when all the planes are logically full to the brim with passengers. Yes, its my fault, not yours.

Good buy Aramex. I am so sad to say this, but truly good buy. Just deliver this shipment and that’s it, I promise you one more user will be lost so less shipments will come your way. Maybe then you can provide a better service for your exaggerated prices.

Oh and please don’t ask me to email you, I already did. Unless you can have my shipment out of Dubai and at my door tonight, then don’t bother.

    Once my shipment arrived Kuwait after two days of the order, and stayed in the custom for around 2 weeks maybe more then off to ardhiya office for another 3 days.

    I doubt they care about their customers because i tried to call them and their people lack of experience.

    and the sad thing some people won’t take action

      Two weeks in the customs? Why!
      Yeah I have been put on hold forever today. I suspect they had hoped I would get fed up and hang up which I did eventually since they have no exact date to when the shipment would be boarding a plane to Dubai. 7asa filim the terminal mo shipment!

      Hi there,
      I had one shipment that took two weeks because it needed approval form the ministry of health. Another time was either after or before 3eed but it wasn’t as bad as your case.
      By the way Danderma i have a shipment that left the US on 7/19/2011 and it’s now in Kuwait. Too bad yours is still waiting, share your pain dear.

        Really? It left on the 19th o its now in Kuwait? So maybe because I bought a big shipment and I paid a big sum I am being delayed… Had I known I would have broken the shipment into pieces and gotten the books one buy one… La 7awla wala qowata ellab be Allah…

    their service is awful n if u ship ur package on the back of a turtle it’ll arrive faster than Aramex!

    Their customer service is just plain awful, u call them on the phone n they have no information.

    I tried the emailing thing with 2 agents. Guess what? They reply to you but then when u reply back they ignore you and never reply back again!!! too ashamed to admit they’re wrong or dont hv a clear explanation or what?

    Yes they’ve raised their prices alot and it’s not even worth it!

    I’m gonna keep posting about them to let people know about their awful service!

      Exactly they keep raising the prices even though the service keeps deteriorating.
      i wouldn’t mind paying the extra money but what I do mind is the explainable delay. For 42 KD per shipment I would expect my box to have a seat on Fly Dubai on its own with an in flight meal b3d!

    I have the same problem!!! and i reduced my orders through them by just using them in EMERGENCIES! but how r u using dhl and other delivery services in the same way? I mean we only use aramex when we want stuff that couldn’t be delivered to Kuwait

      If I order online I send it via DHL to kuwait Directly or via Fedex.
      Also DHL do offer a shop and ship service which I have subscribed to this morning.

        Aramex’s recent service is not good value-for-money i observed. Some sites offer a very attractive flat international shipping rate via DHL (much lower than Aramex), so i can avoid Aramex. But i do use Aramex when i have no other option (sites that don’t ship internationally). Have you ever tried MyUS.com? If anyone did, please share the experience:)

          Exactly! Sometimes even free shipping and it arrives in two days. All you have to do is pay for the customs o bs!
          They say its quite good, the MyUs.com thing… I must try it next time…

        Be careful with DHL. They are not better. They are actually worse. Their charges hit the roof as they mostly charge on volumetic weight. Plus their procedures are medieval. I once lost my patience, yelled, screamed and made a huge scene in their office. To cut the story short, i was next in line and had to wait for 1:15 minutes to be served! Yes they took that long to serve the guy ahead of me. By the way I am known for my patience in these situations and I never like to make big scenes or cause trouble in any place. But that day all hell broke loose with me! Be careful.

          Yes DHL do take forever to serve you I’ve been there and done that before so I know how it must feel…
          i don’t mind paying extra… I just need my shipments to board a plane whenever they arrive somewhere rather than just wait like its in filim el7dood!!!

    I used to use aramex until the managed to screw up everything. Myus.com is a bit more on the expensive side but they give you the choice of shipping through DHL or FedEx, they also have the option to rush the shipment for you, repackage the shipment, or even remove your shoes out of the box before shipping. It comes with an added price of between 5 to 10 Dollars for each additional service but it’s worth every penny. I can’t imagine using any other service after trying myus.com they also assign a dedicated person to follow up on your account, if you have any issues all you have to do is e-mail the dedicated account manager & you’re all set. I highly recommend them.

      لأني أحب الكتاب ككتاب… خاصة إذا كتاب طبخ أحب اتصفحه و أشم ريحته و أطالع صوره

      I am sorry Mehreen but I’ve already emailed care@aramex.com with my shipment number and mailbox number. You should follow up with them on the issue.

    I stopped using Aramex a looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong time ago. I either ship directly to Kuwait, or if the site doesn’t ship internatinally I wait a month or two, there’s always me or someone close to me going to the US or UK and can get whatever I want from there.

      I have stopped shipping anything all together to Kuwait thinking the customs is whats wrong. To my surprise Fedex and DHL have absolutely no problem with customs, only Aramex! So I am either shipping directly or buying only in emergencies… my birthday gift was something I really REALLY wanted to get and couldn’t wait for my family to return from the UK to get it for me. Now I think about I they will probably arrive to Kuwait before the shipment anyways!

    I stopped using aramex for a while now they don’t care about their customers as I told you I’ve been using posta plus for a while now and they are amazing .the customer come first to them recently they have changed their address first the email me the next day someone called me to tell me about the address a week later they send me a letter with the new address I like how they care about their costumer

      Once upon a time there was no other way but Aramex. Thankfully not anymore! I see no reason why I have to suffer for a shipment to hitchhike a plane ride. The exact same thing happened in May. This is unacceptable. Period.

    Thats not the first case of Aramex I have read..they have poor service not just in Kuwait but everywhere…be prepared to pay a high custom duty for no reason also…they are pathetic!

      I already did pay in advance! Just let them board the shipment to a plane for gods sake!

    I can relate to what you are saying..
    I’ve signed up for the shop and ship service last week. I bought a small multimeter (weight of package less than 1 Kg)..
    Amazon delivered the package to aramex on the 29th and till date (2nd of August), I am still waiting for my 1 Kg package to board the flight to Riyadh!
    5 days and the representative is tellign me nwo that he doesn’t have a date yet for the flight .. it was supposed to leave on the 31st July .. then it was delayed till the 1st (reason: flight cancelled !!! ) .. and today the 2nd and the representative confessed that he doesn’t know !!
    Unprofessional…
    Is there a replacement for this service? does DHL/Fedex/… have an equivalent? I am really frustrated and I’m ready to move my shipments any time

      I am still on the look out. I do not want to make the same mistake twice. For now I am only ordering whenever its important and vital…

    what to do now I got 4 separate shipments that say: Shipment Forwarded to Ardiya,Kuwait and its beeen 10 days :s should I go pick them up myself or wait for them or just forget about them :p ?

      I would say forget about them. One day they might show up at your doorstep. Otherwise you will be in this angry state where all you hear is false assurances.
