When the bloggers went last Monday to the Kids Cancer Party at the NBK hospital (post) and (post) each had a different view on their experience to share. All of them however agreed that the most touching story was the story of the young Abdul Kareem. This brave smiling boy has cancer in his leg that is spreading around. In order to save his life he is faced with two options: Get a knee replacement surgery or have his leg cut off.

So why can’t he get a knee replacement? Because they say its not available in Kuwait. However, he can have it replaced in Jordan where the operation is available there. What is the problem then? Well Abdul Kareem is not Kuwaiti and the operation will cost him 30,000 KD which his family doesn’t have.

How is this possible? The medical services in Kuwait doesn’t include a knee replacement operation! Why is it available in Jordan and not in Kuwait?

We thought about having a charity run for Abdul Kareem to help gather the 30,000 KD for him. There are two problems though: 1- The money has to come from one place and not from multiple people, god knows why! I think maybe money laundering rules apply here? and 2- Abdul Kareem has no time. His leg amputation operation is scheduled for next week :(

By next week, Abdul Kareem will lose his leg because a knee replacement surgery cannot be performed in Kuwait. By next week, Abdul Kareem whose family doesn’t have 30,000 KD will be able to live but with one leg only. He is just a little boy with a big smile whose already endured chemo until he is stick thin. But he will have to suffer for the rest of his life because an artificial knee cannot be spared to save his leg.

We can’t gather up donations for him, we would have tried. But we can do is spread the word. Maybe there is someone out there who is willing to help out. Companies maybe? Rich people with big hearts and 30,000 KD to spare? You can help Abdul Kareem by spreading his story, tweeting or posting about it until it reaches someone who can help before its too late. Its the least we can do for this brave little boy with a big smile despite his pain and misery.

  1. Hi Danderma. This story brings me to tears. Do you mind if we copy/paste your post and share it on the GV? Would love to do anything to help Abdul Kareem :'(

    • danderma says:

Don’t mind at all! I have just sent you an email infact asking for bloggers to post it! Thank you!

      • Hi Danderma! We received a comment from one of our readers, and it actually seems like a good idea. Perhaps you or your readers can offer your thoughts. Here it is:

“As the money is needed RIGHT NOW I suggest that we ask around for someone to LEND it for speed and to be from one place (!!??!) and then we can later ask for donations to repay it, or through a charity run or whatever. I’m sure there are lots of people who would like to donate but not that much, and there’s no time for that now. Please re- post and ask for someone to LEND the money. Thanks!”

        • danderma says:

We actually did think about that. We have several options that are going to get clearer today. If all fails we will start the donations anyways but have it done unofficially and then hand it to the mother directly. Thanks guys and we will keep you posted

It’s not a story but a real fact. And it really makes you feel bad when you get to know anything like that and find yourself helpless. I am speechless but frustrated that why the hell people can’t donate individually. what kind of think is blocking .. to the hell with money laundering stuff… it’s time to save someone.

A website or an account where people can simply transfer the amount online and than we can do something… i really hate such laws which blocks you to do something gud.

no one can put himself/herself in the shoes of the Abdul Kareem or parents of him. It’s simply…..bad. Speechless.

    • danderma says:

They say you cannot donate 30,000 KD without a license! Y3ni 7ram! Many people would have donated individually but to go and find someone willing to pay the 30,000 KD is very hard!

One thing I didn’t understand was why can’t they receive donations from more than once place? Can’t people donate to Bait Abdullah and then bait abdullah takes care of it ?

    • danderma says:

They say you need to have a license from el sh2oon! Madry about that bait abdulla thing I will check!

I have an idea, what’s th natioanlity of th guy?
Cos in Jordan he can apply for something called إعفاء but this is not an easy thing to happenm as priority is for Jordanian! so if he can ask for إعفاء from NBK or Misintry of Health in Kuwait, or his Embassy…

    • danderma says:

I am not sure wallah what’s his nationality… I will have to check with the girls and see…

  11. Zooz says:

There must be a way to do it.. Can’t the money be sent directly to the kid’s parents’ bank account, and eventually no single party will be “collecting” money for charity. If only 300 contribute KD 100 each, the problem will be solved.

Jezach allah 1000 5air for ur effort.

    • danderma says:

Thank you! This is exactly what we are thinking of! We are checking if we can do it that way or not cause no way on earth will we get a license for charity in less than a week!
