Danderma actually has a meaning. It is not a nickname for Dana, it is not a nice sounding word only, it is not a just a name. It is the old Kuwaiti word for ice cream. It was the first thing Iooked for when I bought the Kuwaiti Dialect Encyclopedia and sure enough there it was

Sadly even grown ups don’t know what it means! I have had so many men and women ask why I chose the nickname danderma if I was called dana because it can mean nothing else! It drove me crazy!
This was so upsetting Kuwaiti people don’t know there own language 😐

Honestly, when I saw the name of the blog. I ran into my father and told him what the word means, sadly he didn’t knew it and said I doubt it’s a word. By then, I just thought that it was an “unique” nickname for Dana;p

Well many of the words used in the Kuwaiti dialect come from different languages: Turkish, Indian, Persian, English, etc. Whether or not its usage entitles it to be a “Kuwaiti” even if it originates from another language is something to think about
