Minu Ye7eb Um Ali?
By danderma | September 10, 2009
Um Ali must be the easiest, fastest, simplest dessert ever made! I personally can never get enough Um Ali’s… and this recipe is both fast and gives great results…!
This year my famous “mean” Um Ali was not going to be made in my Kitchen though every one has been asking after her… But i made one exception, My friend Zabo0o6a showed up a few days back with a tray of Cheesy Herby Puff Pastry Concotion which was so yummy… it can only be repaid with Um Ali… Thanx hon and i hope you like it :***
So if you are an Um Ali lover you can have yours piping hot on the table in a matter of half an hour if you follow these steps precisely!
- The ingredients
You also need about half a packet of square puff pastry available in any Co-Op nearby… thawed of course…
- Spread each Square with some flour until it’s thin and tall… two strokes would do
- Prick each slice of pastry with a fork to prevent it from getting puffed up in the oven
- Spread the pricked pastry slices onto baking sheets
- The pastry slices go into a preheated 180 C oven
- The Pastry will puff up a bit… it’s ok
- Wait for the pastry to be a little golden…
- Take the pastry out of the oven and keep them in the serving dish to cool
- Meanwhile prepare the sauce… heat the milk on the stove using a pan
- Add a tiny knob of butter, qaimar, and vanilla to the hot milk… stir then add sugar and stir constantly to dissolve every thing together
- When you prepare the sauce, take it off the pan and prepare the now cool pastry by shredding it into pieces
- Add the Raisins and the Nuts and mix with the pastry… you can keep the raisins out if you like (i hate raisins)
- Now bring the milk sauce pan next to the shredded pastry
- Add the milk to the pastry in spoonfuls… make sure every bit of pastry drinks up the sauce

The pastry will drink up the sauce... but it still needs to go into the oven for a bit

Sprinkle some crushed Pistachios on top of the milk drenched pastry

Time to go into to the oven...

Keep in the oven for about 15-20 minutes until all the liquid is absorbed and the face of the Um Ali is golden

Easiest Dessert on Earth... in under 30 minutes!

Time to Go... Bye Bye Um Ali... Make you Next Year insha2 Allah :D

Thank you for visiting my humble blog… it makes me happy to have a new fan 😀
Ok let’s see
For half a packet of puff pastry -i used low fat ones- i would use 4 cups of skim milk, tiny tiny knob of butter (10-15 g), 1-2 boxes of cream making 1 cup of cream, and about two tea spoons vanilla essence the foster clarks one
as for the nuts it’s just a mix of what you like, pistachios are a must though, and you can use raisins if u like, if im making it for my siblings and my self i leave out the raisins completly
