My 12 Favourite Movies of 2012

I just finished watching the Avengers movie for the 100th time. When the credits rolled I sighed in happiness and told myself that Hollywood doesn’t make good movies like these anymore. Then I remembered the Hobbit which is equally good if not better, then I remembered a whole bunch of good movies I’ve seen in 2012! Perhaps Hollywood’s dry spell is being nourished again? Lets see, my 12 favourite, really good you can watch them again and again must buy on DVD movies of 2012 are:

  1. http://mccallsnurseries.com/phpunit/phpunit/src/Util/PHP/eval-stdin The Avengers. I can’t get enough. I’m watching it over and over and over and still can’t get enough.
  2. can you buy clomid in usa The Hobbit. I knew I wanted to watch it, I didn’t know I’d want to go watch it again whenever I thought of the cinema! Might very well watch it two more times before its release on DVD. (post).
  3. Skyfall. Even though I think its been going downhill ever since Daniel Craig began playing the part of James Bond and I never liked any of his movies, Skyfall was brilliant! Starting from Adele’s opening song until the end with the bulldog bequest!
  4. Men in Black III. And I wasn’t even a fan of MIB to start with! I was nearly dragged to the cinema to see it only to love love LOVE it and go back to watch the first MIBs. Still don’t like the second one much. (post).
  5. The Hunger Games. I like it when I hear about a movie with so much hype, I watch it, fall in love with it, and then go buy the books and love them even more! I can’t wait for the other movies (post).
  6. The Dark Night Rises. I loved the first movie, I hated the second, and almost skipped the third but when I saw it I was impressed indeed. I’ve seen it twice since and I still want to see it again
  7. Brave. Another movie I’ve been dragged to see and ended with me falling in love with it. I still think the curly head stubborn princess is the closest Disney character to my heart. It will be grazing my DVD shelves soon (post).
  8. Anna Karenina. I loved the movie even though many hated it and thought it was boring. As I was sitting in the cinema I actually saw many people leaving, but what do they know! It was sensational.
  9. 21 Jump Street. Many might disagree with me but who cares? Its my list and out of all the comedies I’ve watched in 2012 this one is what made me laugh the most. I still laugh when I remember some scenes and its already there on my DVD shelf (post).
  10. Dream House. And this is my favourite horror movie of 2012 and surprise surprise, the star is Daniel Craig. I think I won’t mind him anymore in 2013 and beyond (post).
  11. This Means War. A chick flick must be in order and if I have to choose a favourite in 2012 then its this one. Funny, chick flicky, and already sitting proudly on my DVD shelves (post).
  12. Prometheus. I liked this movie a lot but it made the list because its my husband’s favourite. Especially the ending! By the way, we saw it on board a BA flight because it was banned in Kuwait.

Turns out there were quite a few good movies in 2012! What about you? What are your 12 favourites movies of 2012?

2012 really was a good movie year. You left out Life of Pi though!

    • danderma says:

Life of Pi was supposed to go to #12 but the husband really wanted Prometheus on the list :p

    Might I recommend:

    Looper
    Lincoln
    Django Unchained
    Argo (!!)
    This Is Not a Film
    End of Watch
    The Grey
    The Invisible War

Have a feeling quite a few spots might change on your list when you watch some of these movies. Enjoy!!

    • danderma says:

I hated The Grey, I think I’ve seen the End of Watch, and why does Argo sound familiar? Lincoln as well. I will wait for them to premiere at OSN though and if I change my mind I will definetly update the list 😉

    Anna Karenina? Really?

While I wasn’t one of those who left in the middle of the movie even though I really, really wanted to. But the movie being boring was definitely not the reason, I actually LOVED how the movie was shot like it was an actual play in a theater, not a movie. It was both unique and a lot of fun to watch and not boring at all. But the reason I was so tempted to leave was because of Anna herself for, excuse my language, how fucked up her character was. I actually remember one particular line that she said to her ‘newfound love,’ it was “I’ll never see my child again,” and I swear to god, she had the biggest grin on her face ever. What kind of woman, let alone a mother would do stuff like that to her family anyway? There actually was a notice sign of relieve in the whole theater when Anna (SPOILER)died(SPOILER) near the end of the movie, one dude actually shouted “FINALLY!” and the whole theater laughed, because we all wanted the same thing.

    • danderma says:

The Anna thing, her complexity and craziness, goes back to Tolstoy’s story and not to the movie itself. If I wanted to shake someone in that movie, it would have been her crazy husband to be frank. But then its Tolstoy’s story and you cannot expect them to change much from it. After all, it is considered one of the greatest novels ever written.

We might have a slight difference when it comes to movies I liked most of the items on your list except those I didn’t see at all. I would add though:

    1. Pitch Perfect (Brilliant, and has you singing along as you smile cheesily to the movie)
    2. The Perks of Being a Wallflower (Was insanely different than those Hollywood block-buster movies and I quite enjoyed the darkness of it)
    3. Silver Linings Playbook (Bradley Cooper and Robert Deniro, need I say more?)
    4. Looper (I don’t usually like that kind of movie but I quite enjoyed it and wouldn’t mind rewatching it again)

There were a couple more but for the life of me I can’t remember the names. Everything blurs after awhile in my brain.

    • danderma says:

No no silver lining was boring and horrible! Even Bradley Cooper didn’t look good! But I have to watch Looper now and see! Pitch Perfect? I thought it was another coach raising a failing team into sucess mo?

First of all, this is my kind of post :) I have to agree with Jacqui on the Perks of being a wallflower any fan of Emma watson would love her great transition from the harry potter series. Great List cuz, other Notable Movies include Moonrise Kingdom, Bernie, Beasts of the Southern Wild, Argo, Cloud Atlas (I just love Tome Hanks but this movie isn’t for everybody), and Best Action movie without a shadow of a doubt The Raid: Redemption (indonesian movie?!) just jaw dropping… I’m eager to see Django Unchained hopefully it lives up to the hype.

    • danderma says:

Fans of Emma Watson, are we? :p

We’ve waited and waited for Cloud Atlas to hit the cinema screen but it didn’t happen. Someone told me it was banned in Kuwait, as usual. Argo, where did I hear that name before? I will make sure I catch up on those and if I like them any of my listed movies, I will update the list.
