Finding Beauty in Black & White

Whenever I like a certain shot I take with my camera, I try to apply a black and white or sepia effect on it and see how it turns out. When the color is taken out of a photo and it still looks interesting, it reminds me of the moments in life that are colorless and bleak but still you get something out of, like finding another level of beauty in the forms of patterns, lines, and shadows. These are the ones I like most from my one million and one collection of pictures, I’m thinking I might print some out to hang on my still boring empty white wall.

Danderma, you take beautiful photographs that has a unique artistic touch. Whenever I look at your photographs you post, I have felt like suggesting to you to consider holding a photography exhibition. Honestly, people would love your work!

Why thank you! Personally I think they are fine but in terms of holding a photography exhibition I belive there are many spectacular talented photographers in Kuwait who deserve a photography exibition way more than I do. Thank you for the kind words though, you really made my day :)

Yesterday my husband and I went to Dar Al Funoon for an art exhibition and we met a lady professional photographer (I wish I asked her name). My husband was talking to her about photography and besides some tips she shared one of her beautiful advise was that a photographer (amateur) should enjoy his work and never be too hard on himself/herself and everyone’s work is unique and beautiful and we should never be overcritical of our work. You are really talented Danderma and your photographs speak for itself. I have seen even simple photographs exhibited as photographic exhibits. And your photos truly have a professional and artistic appeal. There is no doubt. I hate to sound pushy, but I really wish you’d consider exhibiting your work and see the positive results and response for yourself.

That’s really nice and very kind of you to point out. Imagine one day I have my own photography exhibition, not bad at all 😀 The only hurdle would be that I have to convince myself that my photographs are different and can be something. I’ve always heard other photographers saying that its not about the technique, its about having an “eye” for photography and because of that I never fully pursied it but now I might just do that. Who knows, maybe it will turn out to be a great adventure!

Thank you very much, you made my day :)
