Spotted: Pirateless @ Cinescape Avenues

By | June 8, 2010

We were about to watch a movie in Cinescape Avenues yesterday when a big black box by the entrance caught my attention… It had a pirate sign outside and two openings that looked like doorways and it looked like you could take a walk inside… I was very intrigued and naturally i wanted to step inside and explore it…

It was very very dark… my curiosity won over my fear and i went in – aided by the flash from my  Blackberry Camera- and this is what i saw…

Tried to play it… didn’t work…

The Facebook page of the project i suppose…

Ah ok so it is about movie pirating…

The design of the box is by Sarah Al-Mujarreb…

It took me 20 seconds to go through the box… then a stream of guys went after me… the thing is it was too pitch black to feel comfortable inside, it’s like going into a haunted house! I don’t know what the movie was about but then i am guessing it’s about movie pirating. I like how they went out of their way and built a little box to send their message across…

Yet quite frankly i don’t think the pirating thing will stop anytime soon given the latest increase in Cinescape ticket prices and the horrible experience you have 80% of the time.

On a last note, by the time we got out of the movie, we saw the box being disassembled… i was glad i went in before the movie… i couldn’t find the Facebook page nor could i find any thing about this project…

Did you see the box? or the movie inside the box?

This is the final project done by an AUK senior student majoring in Graphics Design. This was displayed in AUK before it was moved to the avenues I’m guessing for extra credit. I have to say that it was a neat project and very creative.
