Do You Remember this Cake?

By | August 8, 2010

I was in Mishref Co-Op searching for some bread when i found those neatly stacked pink and yellow packages…

I picked one up… and i cannot believe i have forgotten all about those cakes! We used to love those cakes when we were kids! I don’t remember the last time i had any but i remember the taste well! Thin white vanilla sponge covered with a layer of crunchy pink frosting and cut into squares! I was a child again waiting impatiently to eat that little sugary square!

Do you remember those cakes? Do you still eat those cakes? I put them back promptly… no need for the extra calories but they it felt good to see them again :D

LOL!!! Bravo!!! for putting them back…I’d take them on the intent of wanting my boys to try them ;p and of course I’ll end up eating them! Yes I remember these cakes it was a treat when we were kids.
By the way… The other day I sent the driver to Almira for the flavored bread. It wasn’t that good. There was hardly any herbs and cheese in the bread. :( I have to go again myself and order some.

There is another popular cake at alsabah baker, its kinda squarish and wrapped in a brown paper sheet — Dipping in it in chay 7aleeb with cardamon in a cold winter morning is the closest you’d ever get to a gastronomical heaven…..btw next time buy the cakes fresh from the bakery as the pinkish topping tends to be crusty and soury after sitting in the aisle for few days at the co-ops……
