Review: Pullman Hotel Mall of the Emirates, Dubai…
By danderma | February 6, 2011

When i learned that we were going to Dubai for the past week we had originally reserved to stay at our favourite hotel in Dubai, Al Manzil (review)… then someone told my husband about Pullman hotel and he insisted we try it this time so we changed the reservation.

We reserved a superior double room. Upon entering the bedroom at first glance it was quite spacious and modern.

A big chair with next to the big window with a lovely view.

If you look through the window you could clearly see Burj Al Arab… it was an amazing view especially at night…

Sadly the sheets were dirty and had several human hairs on them from the inside. They are white but had black stains as if someone had sat with their shoes on them. The carpet was dirty and needed a vacuming too.

The bathroom was separated from the bedroom with a glass partition. But it had a white curtain that you could lower down to give the bathroom complete privacy. It is more private than the Manzil’s bathroom for sure. But the curtain can be opened from the outside by the way.

Thankfully the bathroom was cleaner than the room. I was also surprised to see a small kettle with sachets of Nescafe and some tea bags for our coffee supplies when we had on the website seen a Nespresso machine in the room. So i went down to the lobby immediately.

I asked that the sheets get changed and the carpet vacumed immediately and we went out to grab a quick bite. When we returned the carpet was clean and the sheets changed. But still when i slept i could smell something not nice, the smell of a wet towel, and my body itched all night long. If you are going to stay there you might want to bring your own sheets with you.

The hotel main lobby was in the fifth floor! A nice modern cafe is there and access to the balcony where we had breakfast in the morning (post)… all through the lobby there is free wifi access to the guests. There are also two sets of elevators.

The annoying thing about the hotel is that The parking is on Level 2, The Mall is on Level 1, a Mini reception is on the ground floor, but you must pass by Level 5, step out of the elevator, walk through the lobby on the 5th, then go up to the rooms! I wonder why the elevators wouldn’t just go up to the rooms already and that’s it! But the 2nd set of elevators that go up to the rooms cannot be operated unless you pass your room card first for security reasons.

That’s the mall entrance from hotel… you get out right besides Jumbo electronics store…
Would i stay in the hotel again?
Well… the price is all right. The place is modern and new. The location is VERY GOOD… better than Almanzil’s for sure… but the hotel is not ultra clean. The breakfast on the balcony or drinking a cup of coffee at night in the balcony is just sensational.
So… i would stay in Pullman if i am to travel in the winter time only where i can sit in the balcony to enjoy the view and the breakfast. I would be brining my own sheets though. If i am to travel before December or after February i would definitely stay in Almanzil.

I can tolerate the carpet but the sheets? Seriously? That’s not what I’d expect from Dubai.
I’ve never been there before but I thought things like this wouldn’t happen over there.

Huda: It happens all over the world. Such a pity it happened in that new hotel though… if they were cleaner it would’ve been the perfect hotel to stay in!
