By the time I post this I’d be fighting to keep my eyes open after a long day’s trip from Kuwait all the way to the land down under. I’m on my way to Queensland, Australia as part of the #Room753 bloggers trip to Queensland and yesterday -or I think it was yesterday- at 8 P.M. I bid good bye to the stray cats residing in the street where our apartment in Kuwait is located and headed for the airport to catch the 10:20 PM Emirates Plane to Dubai, UAE.  Read more »

Joining Project #Room753 in Queensland, Australia

By | May 18, 2014

mttbad1

I remember the day very well. It was night time, and I was drinking tea in my favourite mug while spending a quiet night alone with the lights dimmed when I received an email from my contact form. The email was from Think! Social Media and it was asking if I am interested in joining 21 other bloggers from around the world in project #Room753 which involves a trip to visit Queensland, Australia!

At first it didn’t register, all I understood was something Read more »

My friends over at Dallah’s bakery sent me a very early sneak preview item that is yet to be launched in a few days time, something I’ve seen a sneak peek of a while back and I couldn’t believe my luck when it arrived in a big chilled box on my door for I was the first to try it out.  Read more »

The Long Drive Home

By | September 17, 2013

tpmtc

She got in her little silver car after a long exhausting day at the office. Already late for her lunch and nap time because of work, she sluggishly pulled out of the parking and onto the traffic light. This traffic light in particular is the worst one she ever stood for, for it takes almost five minutes until it lights up again. Eye-lids drooping dangerously, she feared she might fall asleep on the ride back home so she forced herself to listen to the noisy radio station, cranking up the volume as high as she could. The Day I Lost my Ability to Write

By | August 18, 2013

ywqdbs

Have you ever suffered from a writer’s block so severe, it makes you strain to remember how words go together hand in hand?

I suppose not many would relate to what I’m talking about, but this happened to me. I love words, words are my thing. I could reduce a classroom to tears stringing a few words into sentences that would grab your heart. Many of my Read more »

I received mine a few days ago, a bucket with my blog’s name in Arabic spray painted in red plus Triangle restaurant’s name and logo in black. The bucket was quite heavy and chock full of goodies. One of the most elegant and to the point qerqaia’an gifts I’ve received this Ramadan is baby Yousef’s first qerqaia’an distributed by his lovely mother Joumana of The Side Talk blog. The qerqaia’an came in an elegant silver box tied with a golden ribbon and baby Yousef’s name written on the lid in beautiful golden Arabian calligraphy. Read more »

On the first night of the Qerqaia’an, which is a traditional celebration during the 13th, 14th, and 15th days of the holy month of Ramadan where children dress up and sing while going from door to door to be given candy, I was drinking my post-iftar tea at home when there was a knock on my door and little darling Jana, the baby of my friend Swera, was there holding her very own cute little flowery yellow qerqaia’an! Does the Number of Events Determine a Blog’s Worth?

By | April 16, 2013

hpcn-1-1

A person who reads my blog came up to me the other day and bluntly stated “Is your blog popular? Because I don’t see you get invited to as many events as the other bloggers in Kuwait!”

I was left pondering the statement for a bit, usually I let comments like this pass right over my head even though sometimes they provoke me to reply but in the end I find it better to just sweep them under the rug of human insanity. In this case however, I thought to clarify something that is extremely important to the concept of blogging in general and how it relates in Kuwait.  Read more »

What’s Inside a Bloggerette’s Bag?

By | February 28, 2013

wiabb-001-1

The other day I was out with my fellow bloggerette Pink Girl and while we were both paying and it was taking forever to do so, my sight fell on our two bags sitting side by side gaping open, each filled to the brim with stuff we can no longer leave the house without. I noticed a lot of similarities between our two bags so Read more »

Trying Authentic Brazilian Cuisine at Luna Restaurant

By | December 1, 2012

Even though I am a Vegetarian and quite a picky eater, I’ve always wanted to try new cuisines, exotic if that’s the correct term. We are still hung up on Indian, Italian, Chinese, and Japanese with a good mix of Thai thrown in for diversity. I think we once had a Read more »

Do I Need a Business Card as a Blogger?

By | July 1, 2012

Yesterday in Zain’s social media event I noticed that many of my fellow bloggers were socializing and exchanging business cards with social media people. I was asked several times about my business card and I shrugged, apologizing for not having one. Then I thought to myself, am I a little backwards here? Don’t I need one?

I’m wondering if its a faux pas not to have a business card if you are a blogger now adays? Now why would I need them exactly? Yesterday, it was a social media event that happens once every once in a while. Its not like we do it every day. Do I need to go through the agony of designing a BC, printing it, carrying it with me, and handing it out for people? I need to google this and see what others worldwide think.

And if so, what on earth would I say on it? Danderma, blogger? Madry I don’t feel inah my “job describtion” is fit for a business card. But maybe I’m wrong? I can’t make up my mind on this one.

Now dear fellow bloggers, do you have business cards? If yes, let me know why. If not, why not? Do share please :)

What is this blog missing?

By | March 13, 2011

Although i have been blogging since August 2008, sometimes you find yourself in a place where you need to change directions, check out what the readers are interested , recalculate your steps and assess whether or not you are good enough to be called a blogger.

I’m not the best blogger in Kuwait, not even close. Not even a half decent blogger. Many of the top blogs out there are waaaay younger than mine. Mafeha shay, they know how to blog better than me hence why they are at the top, being recognized and praised and they they totally deserve it for they know how to interest the readers of Kuwait and capture their attention.

Now help me out here dear readers, what do you think my blog is missing? What do you like in other blogs that you cannot find in mine? Some of my readers said they would like to see more Arabic written posts and I am considering that.

What else? Be honest and tell me whatever is on your mind please, I’m welcome to all ideas 😀
