Ever since GIA opened up their doors in October 2013 they’ve been creating a buzz with the food loving population of Kuwait. Gia was always busy, and I’ve yet to encounter one person who dined there and didn’t love the food or the atmosphere. They’ve been open for less than a year and a half but they’ve already closed down to expand to the next door shop due to popular demand and now its even bigger with more room to breathe and relax. So what was next for Gia? Why, breakfast of course!  Read more »

Breakfast and lunch at Mado Kuwait

By | January 12, 2015

Back in December the much loved and very popular Turkish cafe Mado finally opened its doors in Kuwait. The opening followed a long period of anticipation on instagram with many devoted followers asking about the opening date. I was travelling when it did open, early December 2014, and I’ve heard a lot of mixed reviews about it all of them advising me me to wait a bit until they get on their feet and ran things smoothly. Breakfast at Karak Gholam

By | October 23, 2013

My friend and fellow blogger Ansam has been busy lately. A couple of weeks ago she  finally was going to share her love of food with the rest of us with the launch of “Karak Gholam”, Kuwait’s newest Karak cafe where Ansam is a co-owner. Karak is a drink that’s basically tea, milk, sugar, and Indian spices cooked together. Rather, its the equivalent of a spiced chai latte and I’m not sure if Karak is the official Indian name for it but its been forever popular in neighbouring GCC countries like Qatar and the UAE and is currently taking Kuwait by storm.  Read more »

Cooking the Perfect Scrambled Eggs for Breakfast

By | August 29, 2013

A long time ago, when Google Reader was alive and kicking, I remember a fellow blogger posted a video of Gordon Ramsey preparing scrambled eggs. The only way I can actually crave and eat eggs is by eating them scrambled and not every restaurant can make them the way I consider them scrambled. You know yellow, creamy, with soft peaks and the entire thing in one piece. Ever since I saw the video I’ve wanted to make scrambled eggs at home but I never really got the chance to try and cook them until last weekend. Read more »

Obsessed with Labna Sandwiches for Breakfast

By | August 21, 2013

Ever since we began having breakfast again I’ve been crazy about having Labna sandwiches for some reason. I used to think I like labna just fine, but I’ve come to the realisation that I adore labna and actually prefer it more than cheese for breakfast. Funny how you can still discover things you’ve never known about yourself. If you don’t know what labna is, it’s more a dairy product that tastes as tangy as Greek yoghurt and has the consistency of spreadable cheese, a tad runnier though. Read more »

Breakfast at Véranda of Harvey Nichols in The Avenues

By | June 19, 2013

bavohn-006-1

Back again at one of my current favourite restaurants in Kuwait, but this time I’m trying it for breakfast for I’ve seen pictures and the pictures beckoned me over to the Grand Avenues and up the Elevator of Harvey Nichols. When I went it was a weekend morning, and I was there at 9 A.M. expecting to see an empty restaurant -and an empty Avenues- but to my surprise the Avenues was bustling with activity and Véranda had Read more »

The count down to the holy month of Ramadan has started and I cannot wait for that special time of year to be here, but I know for sure that the one thing I will miss most is having breakfast in the morning. Hence, I’m trying to have a lavish breakfast whenever the occasion rises. One lavish, extremely delicious breakfast I’ve had recently was in the newest branch of Fauchon Cafe located in the Avenues. Breakfast at Figs by Todd English in the Avenues

By | April 21, 2013

bafota-009-1

Ever since Figs by Todd’s English opened up in 360 Mall they served breakfast and judging by the pictures of diners I saw on instagram, it was a breakfast that I really wanted to try. However, I’m not much of a fan of Figs in 360, for one thing the seating area bears too much resemblance to the food court next door. I saw the pictures, got hungry, yet knew I’d never drag myself up from bed during the weekend to go to their 360 branch. Read more »

Breakfast at Cafe Bazza in the Avenues

By | March 12, 2013

bicb-003-1One of the places I’ve been waiting to try for breakfast is the Avenues branch of Cafe Bazza. I’m already a fan of their food/theme/atmosphere and I’ve tried them for dinner/lunch/breakfast many times but I’ve never been to the Avenues branch which is located in the traditional Souk section. Whenever I arrive there at 10 or 9:30 A.M. I find it pretty crowded and the outdoors tables are all taken so last week I made it there at 9:20 A.M. and to my Read more »
