Driving up and down Jumeira Road i have passed by Kitsch Cupcakes several times. Never did i feel like trying it. It is also sold in Candylicious Dubai Mall but the place is always too crowded to take your there. Then in my Sugar Daddy’s Bakery post (link) a couple of readers told me of how good Kitsch cupcakes were, how that they are even better than Magnolia’s, so i have decided to try it… Read more »

Yesterday as we were having dinner in Lenotre… we were sitting by the window and we saw the reherseals for tonights fireworks and lights display on Kuwait Towers! They were so beautiful! I took a video and i took some pictures but the picture quality while trying to zoom from far away wasn’t that good… i was told that those lights and fireworks display are designed by the same people who designed the lights and fireworks display for Burj Khalifa’s opening in Dubai!

How are you spending the vacation?!

By | February 23, 2011

I heard a rumor that we will be given a half work day only tomorrow… i am not sure about that… but the festivities will start for sure on Thursday…

What will you be doing during the festive holiday? Going to the fireworks? Hiding at home? Joining a maseera? Catching a plane? Watching the military display? There seems like a lot going on and i am not really sure what is the best option to get the most out of the vacation this year!

What are your plans?

By | February 20, 2011

I was walking in the Avenues last weekend when i saw the blue poster above, which was designed by my father in while we were in the UK during the Iraqi invasion in 1990. Movie Review: The Way Back!

By | February 16, 2011

When i saw the trailer for this movie in London last year i was ecstatic… i knew i would love this movie once it came out… i waited for it to be shown in London but i missed it. I waited for it to be shown in Kuwait but it took forever… when i was in Dubai i went to the movie to purchase tickets only to find the show had been cancelled for the day. I went the next day to find the movie had been removed all together from the cinemas! Finally last monday i was able to see it!

I had high expecations for the movie since i’ve been hearing everyone praising it so much. But to be frank i was a bit disappointed. The actors are good, the story is real and fascinating, but there is just something missing… i don’t know maybe the goal factor? If they had portrayed how tormnted was the hero in the begining at losing touch with his wife i would have felt the purpose of his insistance more… plus it was predictable… they wander in the snow and some die freezing. They wander in the dessert and some die from the heat.

I don’t really know what’s missing… maybe a great soundtrack to accompany the cruicial moments in the movie like when they saw tibet at last? I also didn’t like the fact that suddenly they were in the mines and the next moment they were running free and being chased by dogs… HOW did they escape!? I want to see that kind of suspence! Suspence… i guess that was what’s missing… the lack of suspence.

Overall it was a decent movie. I think the story would be much better. I don’t think i would buy it on DVD and watch it again though.

Parking Location Tickets in Dubai Mall…

By | February 13, 2011

The great things about Malls in Dubai is their parking. You can always find a parking space even on the busiest days! Of course they build huge parkings to accomodate all the visitors and you can easily get lost. In Dubai Mall there are machines that dispense parking tickets that tell you the floor and location of the parking… you keep the ticket, shop all day if you want, and when it’s time to go you simply get it out to remember where did you park your car! A simple idea that makes life much easier on people!!!
