We had Raclette for lunch today 😀
When we were in Switzerland this winter, we brought back the makings for this yummy warm wintery lunch…
1- Sliced Raclette Cheese and 2- Raclette Oven
What is a Raclette?
It is a kind of swiss cheese, its is the 2nd famous dish after Swiss Fondue. It is usually served with some boiled baby potatoe, little pickled onions and pickled gherkins. I always order a bread basket and a green salad on the side with it. Some variations include having mushrooms or pickled baby corn, some have sausages they girll on the top of the oven while the cheese is being melted…
It is a very good fullfilling meal, and while you eat it you imagine ur self in Europe, you momentarely forget ur in Kuwait and you know it has been worth every kd paid for the extra weight in the airport …
So let me show you what did we eat today 😀

The lunch table...
The ingredients

The Cheese

The Raclette Oven

Green Salad without Dressing

A Basket of Boiled Baby Potatoes... Yum

The Condiments: Salt, Pepper, Nutmeg, & Paprika

My last bottle of Diet Coke with Citrus Zest from the UK :~(

Some Bread Slices... a decent loaf of bread from La Baugette would do

First, you put a slice of cheese on this little pot

Second, you plunge the pan inside the Raclette oven and wait a bit

Check if the cheese is melting... Once its thoroughly melted, take it out of the oven and let the fun begin :DOne way to eat? Pour onto your baby potatoes... then sprinkle with nutmeg or salt or pepper or paprika

Yummy ... spread the cheese a bit before sprinkling what u want

Another way to eat is to slide the cheese on top of your bread, like Heidi's grandad does

Then top with fresh greens to make an open face sandwich :D

Or arrange the veggies first on the bread, then seal the sandwich by pouring the cheese on top

Very Tasty!

The smallest tiniest cutest baby potatoe i have ever seen! I almost didn't eat it 😀
