The long awaited Joe’s cafe finally arrived to the Prestige district of the Avenues mall and opened its doors to eager diners a week ago. Personally, I am not a fan of the Joe’s cafe in London given that I avoid restaurants with more than one table of Arabs like the plague when I travel but passing by the big floor-to-ceiling windows cafe in Kuwait I had to, just had to try it especially since everyone was making plans to go and dine there. Plus, it was a rainy day and rain reminds me of London and what better way to dine on a rainy day than in a cafe all the way from London? Read more »

The Avenues Summer Carnival

avcr-029

When I first set foot on the Grand Avenues during the Avenues construction site visit, I could almost imagine a European like walkway lined with cafes and international shops. Then when the Avenues did finally open and became the place to be in Kuwait, it did feel like you were travelling every time you walk down it’s vast corridors. Last week, Read more »

Breakfast at Véranda of Harvey Nichols in The Avenues

By | June 19, 2013

bavohn-006-1

Back again at one of my current favourite restaurants in Kuwait, but this time I’m trying it for breakfast for I’ve seen pictures and the pictures beckoned me over to the Grand Avenues and up the Elevator of Harvey Nichols. When I went it was a weekend morning, and I was there at 9 A.M. expecting to see an empty restaurant -and an empty Avenues- but to my surprise the Avenues was bustling with activity and Véranda had Read more »

Breakfast at C-Omar in the Avenues

By | June 16, 2013

Growing up in the 80’s meant watching a lot of Egyptian movies and TV serieses. Whenever I was watching and they had breakfast, I’d wish I was joining them at the table and eating from their breakfast, always plates laden with food and people sharing. Therefore when I knew that the modernised Egyptian-themed restaurant C-omar began to serve breakfast, I wanted to go and see what they had to offer.  Read more »

The count down to the holy month of Ramadan has started and I cannot wait for that special time of year to be here, but I know for sure that the one thing I will miss most is having breakfast in the morning. Hence, I’m trying to have a lavish breakfast whenever the occasion rises. One lavish, extremely delicious breakfast I’ve had recently was in the newest branch of Fauchon Cafe located in the Avenues. The best part of Thursday starts the moment you’re done with your work and you begin feeling all free to begin enjoying your weekend. I love having lunch outside on Thursdays and one of my favourite dining spots recently is in Véranda of Harvey Nichols. I cannot get enough of the place! keep going back for the great food, the calm yet bubbly atmosphere, and the excellent location overlooking all the action in the grand Avenues yet undisturbed by the crowds while you are dining.  Read more »

Ever since I set foot in Frotune Cookie EmChakNam last week (post) I’ve been thinking about the Fred‘s little skull shot glass. I have a thing for Fred‘s merchandise, I like almost every single one of them as they cater to my wacky taste (post) therefore couldn’t resist anymore and went back and got me one and made it into my newest and current favourite espresso cup!  Read more »

Afternoon Tea at Véranda of Harvey Nichols in the Avenues

By | April 29, 2013

ttavc-1

Ever since Véranda’s opening in March 2013 I’ve been there several times for different occasions and each and every time I’ve had a lip-smacking meal and an excellent time. The last time I was there was last Thursday with my friends. People were just out of work starting their weekend, the Avenues was filling up fast with people so we chose to go to Véranda: overlooking the weekend hubbub from the balcony but not bothered by the crowds. Dinner at C-Omar in the Avenues

By | April 23, 2013

cospd-022-1

A while ago I’ve been walking in the Souk district of the Avenues mall when I saw a boarded up coming soon restaurant under the name of “C-Omar”. C is a word used in Egypt for mister and if I’m not mistaken there is a black and white movie by the name of C-Omar.  Therefore C-Omar was clearly a new Egyptian restaurant and judging by the modern looking design and my love for Egyptian food, I knew I will keep an eye out for its opening.  Read more »

Whenever I travel I always take a travel sized candle with me to make my hotel room feel a little bit more like home. I’m always on Read more »

Lunch at Fauchon Café in the Avenues

By | April 16, 2013

Last week I was shopping in the Prestige district of the Avenues mall when I passed by the newly opened Fauchon café. It was buzzing with diners and suddenly I was hit by the strongest craving for their cheese club sandwich, which is excellent by the way. It was night time and Prestige district is always too dark for my liking so I decided to come by the next day to have my club sandwich for lunch and I’m glad I did. Read more »

By | April 8, 2013

tonodbcitjsota-013-1

Back in June I posted about a big box of chocolates I received from a new chocolatier in Kuwait, DeBrand (post). The chocolate variety I received was vast and very delicious and needless to say nothing lasted a long time at all. Back then I was told that DeBrand’s first branch will be opening in the new Avenues mall sections which were still under construction. Yesterday, and after a long 10 months wait, DeBrand’s first branch was opened in the Avenues. Read more »

By | April 1, 2013

anclcmc-004-1I was walking in the souk district in the Avenues when I noticed a new cafe had opened up. When I got closer, I realised it was Al Nassma Cafe. Al Nassma is a well known chocolate brand from Dubai and what makes it special is that their fine chocolates are made with camel milk, which also makes them the first and only chocolatiers that user camel milk to produce their chocolates.  Read more »

OSIM Message Equipments Store

By | March 10, 2013

Another weekend shopping stop of mine was one at the very end of the Grand Avenues walkway, the recently opened OSIM shop. I’ve seen OSIM message and relaxation products once in a commercial booth in 360 Mall and my husband wanted to try them while I stood by, skeptic and totally not interested but finally caved in and when I did, not only did we leave with a Read more »
