Ever since GIA opened up their doors in October 2013 they’ve been creating a buzz with the food loving population of Kuwait. Gia was always busy, and I’ve yet to encounter one person who dined there and didn’t love the food or the atmosphere. They’ve been open for less than a year and a half but they’ve already closed down to expand to the next door shop due to popular demand and now its even bigger with more room to breathe and relax. So what was next for Gia? Why, breakfast of course!  Read more »

A few weeks back a new Italian chocolatier and gelateria from Milano, Italy opened up in the Grand Avenues right next door to The Cheesecake Factory. The name is Cioccolatitaliani and I’ve been there numerous times ever since its opening. Each and every time I try something new and each and every time I fall in love a little bit more with the place.  Read more »

The long awaited Joe’s cafe finally arrived to the Prestige district of the Avenues mall and opened its doors to eager diners a week ago. Personally, I am not a fan of the Joe’s cafe in London given that I avoid restaurants with more than one table of Arabs like the plague when I travel but passing by the big floor-to-ceiling windows cafe in Kuwait I had to, just had to try it especially since everyone was making plans to go and dine there. Plus, it was a rainy day and rain reminds me of London and what better way to dine on a rainy day than in a cafe all the way from London? Read more »

Breakfast at Karak Gholam

My friend and fellow blogger Ansam has been busy lately. A couple of weeks ago she  finally was going to share her love of food with the rest of us with the launch of “Karak Gholam”, Kuwait’s newest Karak cafe where Ansam is a co-owner. Karak is a drink that’s basically tea, milk, sugar, and Indian spices cooked together. Rather, its the equivalent of a spiced chai latte and I’m not sure if Karak is the official Indian name for it but its been forever popular in neighbouring GCC countries like Qatar and the UAE and is currently taking Kuwait by storm.  Read more »

Lunch at GIA Mediterranean Cafe

By | October 21, 2013

ok

I think it was back during the holy month of Ramadan when I first started following the instagram account of GIA cafe. They were testing their dishes and I knew by looking at what they had to offer that I wanted to try them out, really wanted to, for they reminded me of Ottelenghi’s in London. After a long wait, they finally opened their doors yesterday afternoon and I wasted no time heading over to GIA’s for some lunch.  Read more »

About a year ago I was in the United Tower in Kuwait City for the first time attending the opening of Upper Crust Pizzeria when I saw a sign for “Cafe November”. November can mean one thing and one thing only, that the distinguished November Bakery is opening up a cafe! If you love and admire the November Bakery as much as I do, you’d know how happy I was when I knew just before Ramadan that they were finally open. Read more »

Dinner at Cavalli Caffè in the Grand Avenues

By | April 9, 2013

dacck-017-1We were invited for a private preview dinner of Cavalli Cafè which took place yesterday. I knew from my visit to the cafe before (post) that the interior was glamorous and I was waiting to see if the food lived up to the hype and interior. Yesterday at 7 P.M. on the dot we made it to Cavalli Caffè and we were let in and led to our table at once. Read more »
