About a year ago I was in the United Tower in Kuwait City for the first time attending the opening of Upper Crust Pizzeria when I saw a sign for “Cafe November”. November can mean one thing and one thing only, that the distinguished November Bakery is opening up a cafe! If you love and admire the November Bakery as much as I do, you’d know how happy I was when I knew just before Ramadan that they were finally open. Read more »

The holy month of Ramadan is almost here and for the past three or four years we’ve gotten used to receiving a big box chockfull of Ramadan supplies from Mishref Co-op where my husband has an account. I arrived home yesterday to a big fat colourful box tied with a pink ribbon, so heavy you couldn’t lift it on your own. At first I thought someone had sent me a gift box but looking closely I realised it had the Mishref Co-op logo on it! Never before have I seen a local Co-op distribute such a beautiful and well thought of gift before! Read more »

Picture of the Week: Cooking Suhoor

By | August 6, 2012

There is nothing more tantalizing than the aroma of boiling pasta promising you a warm hearty meal at the end of the road. Its so fulfilling! I love pasta so much I allow myself to eat only plain pasta with salt when I’m sick as comfort food, sort of like a guilty pleasure

A few days back I’ve been craving Spaghetti Pomodoro like mad so I decided to have some for my Suhoor meal and it hit all the right spots. I took the picture of the dry spaghetti noodles above while simmering the tomato sauce. That was one memorable Suhoor meal, Yum!

What was your most memorable Suhoor meal this Ramadan?

By | December 17, 2010

Yesterday afternoon as i got out of my orthodontists appointment i had to eat something soft to eat… and since i was craving Koshary anyways i thought let me make the trip to the alleys of Hawalli to get my self some…

I honked and yelled and cursed all the way Koshary Jo7a in 7awalli, the behind Fotokina on the same street as Hasan Abuls & Alshaye3… don’t know the street’s name though… i got there, ordered my self a koshary for two and came back home…

I already had some chickpeas… so i mixed the stuff up and took the picture… Boy does it look different from the one i got the other day! It was more appetizing and much more fresh! Tasted amazing too!!!

Highly recommended for a first Koshary Trial 😀
