Trying the Gluten-Free Cauliflower Pizza Crust

| August 23, 2016

Let me start by stating the fact that I do not like cauliflowers.

In fact, I loathe them.

The smell, the taste, the texture. I’m a vegetable loving vegetarian who actually does crave broccoli but never could stand to be within a metre of cauliflower in any shape or form including the very famous fried cauliflower and eggplant sandwich we call Meshakkal in Kuwait. Never was a fan. The same goes for sweet potatoes, I just could never understand their over-sweetened taste nor embrace it as a vegetable.  Read more »

Dinner at the Gathering Bistro

By | May 1, 2013

cdatg-001-1

Back in November, which now feels just like yesterday, I’ve been granted a sneak preview of the Gathering Bistro before it was officially open (post). Fast forward six months later and we finally had the chance to try it out for dinner and we had an excellent time! The weather was windy and cool, the tables filled out quickly, a nice soundtrack playing subtly in the background and at one point Dido’s white flag was -yes, I’m a fan- and most importantly, the food was really good! First we had to try the Cheesy potato bombs, they seemed smaller that what we remember but they were as tasty and excellent as a comfort food dish can be. Read more »

I was going through an old box of mine trying to de-clutter when I found this tiny menu from Pizza Italia! I sat back in my chair, opened the menu, the Pizza Italia TV jingle playing in my head -and is still is!-, and I remembered fondly the good old days when Pizza Italia was Read more »

Pizza, Cupcakes, & Fun Bloggerettes Night :)

By | November 9, 2010

Yesterday night we were invited for another albeit more casual Blogerettes gathering in FourMe’s place… Rules:  Come from your couch as you are… no fuss and wear nothing but sweats or track suits! We were prepared to lounge casually around the couches, eating harmful but yummy food, and talking about nothing and everything 😀

The menu as you can see was 5 large pizza’s -can you guess from where?- and lots of soft drinks… and every one who attended brought… CUPCAKES!!! While we were waiting for the pizza’s to arrive the girls were eating one cupcake after another with tea! I was worried that they would ruit their appetite for real dinner: Pizza & salad from Salad boutique! It didn’t help that we were indulged in a 100% homemade chocolate cake made by the one and only FourMe herself!!! Yes the yummy cake that looks like a hedgehodge is hers!

That was one lovely sugar and fat filled night to remember… Thank you girls for another amazing gathering :* That’s 4y’s cake below by the way it deserves another standing ovation 😀

When in Rome… Search for Cucina De Leoncina!

By | November 6, 2010

On Twitter two of my girl tweeps were talking about Restaurants in Rome when i recommended this tiny little place…

I don’t know where i read about it because it is NOT a tourist spot at all, but i remember very well going to the Street it was supposed to be in, searching and searching and going around in circles until i found two elderly italians going inside this unremarkable door with no sign above! Only then did we realize that this tiny place was the famous hidden gem, the Cucina De Lenoncina!!!

We went inside and waited to be seated, on heading inside another big Italian man came up behind us, pushed my husband roughly to the side and barged in infront of us and took the last remaining table!!! The place was filled with Italians an no tourists and the only spot they found us was a little table behind the huge oven! The setting sucked and the porcelan tiles on the walls reminded me of those kebab restaurants in Sharq wel Murqab with stainless steel cutlery! There was a little balcony on our right where people were sitting outside and people jumped over the hedges to be seated… pandemoneum!

But the pizza… the pizza… THE PIZZA! You will never ever EVER find a better pizza in all of Italy… or the world… we didn’t even have time to take pictures…

How good? Let me just say that i am willing to board a plane to Rome to have it for lunch and come back. Of all things Italian, this is the BEST in all Italy… that includes fashion and gelato and pastas  and old historical places…

Good luck finding the place if you are in Rome 😉

here is an article about it i found online… http://www.tripadvisor.ca/ShowUserReviews-g187791-d783830-r27064495-Il_Leoncino-Rome_Lazio.html
