For a while now almost every bookworm social media account I’m following was rearranging their collection of books in a colour-coded book theme so the end result would resemble a rainbow. I have an ancient photo of my bookshelves when I was a kid back in the early 90’s, my collection of some magazines were arranged Rainbow style but I have to look for the picture and scan it before I can share it with you, most likely in this post. Anyway, since my bookshelves are overflowing and organising the books in a readable manner became one messy affair, I thought I’d dedicate myself to this task and arrange all my books rainbow-style. After all, how hard can it be, right? Read more »
A couple of weeks ago users on instagram began sharing the account and pictures of a new restaurant in Kuwait City that goes by the name of Eight. I saw the pictures and the bio of the restaurant promised an exclusive, luxury, dining experience and I knew I wanted to try it at once. Read more »
I’ve been hearing amazing things from people in Kuwait who are subscribed to Zain and already are using the 4G LTE technology so when my mobile service provided VIVA enabled their 4G LTE service I called them at once to check how to activate it and if there are any extra charges. The service is for free with no extra charges, all you have to do is send an SMS to activate it and whenever you are within the LTE range you will be connected. These are the steps I followed to enable the 4G LTE on my iPhone 5 in case you didn’t enable it already. Read more »

Is not following someone on Instagram -or any social media application- considered as a personal insult? Should we read too much into it?

Yesterday in Zain’s social media event I noticed that many of my fellow bloggers were socializing and exchanging business cards with social media people. I was asked several times about my business card and I shrugged, apologizing for not having one. Then I thought to myself, am I a little backwards here? Don’t I need one?
I’m wondering if its a faux pas not to have a business card if you are a blogger now adays? Now why would I need them exactly? Yesterday, it was a social media event that happens once every once in a while. Its not like we do it every day. Do I need to go through the agony of designing a BC, printing it, carrying it with me, and handing it out for people? I need to google this and see what others worldwide think.
And if so, what on earth would I say on it? Danderma, blogger? Madry I don’t feel inah my “job describtion” is fit for a business card. But maybe I’m wrong? I can’t make up my mind on this one.
Now dear fellow bloggers, do you have business cards? If yes, let me know why. If not, why not? Do share please
Today, 30th of June, we celebrate the Social Media day! Thanks to social media, we are all glued to our tech devices all the time, connecting with everyone everywhere on planet earth. Knowledge is power, and social media made access to knowledge as fast as a click of a button.
In honor of this day the social media club released the video where different people with different experiences in the social media field talk about this day. Your truly is one of them appearing somewhere -I’m too afraid to watch- as well as many of my fellow bloggers like Ansam, His & Hers, Blog 37, Q8 Stig, and Q8 Path. So without further ado watch the video and have a happy social media day -ironically Instagram is down but we can still enjoy it nevertheless-.

I love my old video, I really do. I have no intention of letting it go anytime soon. However I have several contents on old VHS video tapes that I want to convert into computer friendly format: mp3, mp4, burn on dvd, or maybe upload to youtube and share with others.
There was a store in Jabriya that helped me out last year but they took like 3 KD and one week to convert the one tape I wanted and this year they have closed down. My husband claims we have some sort of device he can connect between the video and the computer which helps in the transformation but he has to “unearth it” and given that I know for sure that such device doesn’t exist in his possessions I am not willing to wait.
Do you have any idea how or where I can get those VHS tapes on my pc ASAP? Help please!
Many people kept urging me to join good reads and I thought to myself that I have more than enough online accounts and places to check than I could possibly need. Then yesterday I have decided to check it out, which in turn turned into logging in using my Twitter account and now I have my own good read account!
I have added many books (165 so far), reviewed some (31), and have found some fellow book worms like myself (7 w3liya). I have to say for a book worm who loves nothing more than books in this world, good reads is like my cyber heaven!
I think you know what I mean if you are a fellow book worm Now if you are interested you can follow me on Good Reads, just search for Danderma
ArchofKuwait account on Instagram has a challenge where instagrammers in Kuwait shoot pictures of places in Kuwait and use the hash tag #ArchOfKuwait to enter those pictures into the challenge. Arch of Kuwait then chooses from the best pictures entered and announce them as winners on their Instagram account plus they print them out and hang them in Solo Pizza’s wall!
Guess who was chosen this week? Yes, yours truly! A picture I’ve taken inside Beit 7 while having breakfast there last Saturday!
Thank you ArchofKuwait! You totally made my week for sure! I can’t wait to go to Solo’s and look at my picture of the wall!
You can follow Arch of Kuwait on Instagram on @archofkuwait or view the winners on their website (link).
A few years ago I wanted some picture of Kuwait during the Iraqi invasion of 1990. I searched the internet high and low but to dismay I barely found anything. I was really surprised no one took the initiative to archive that crucial period of Kuwait’s history. Then Mr. Adel Al-Yousifi published his a website named The Evidence (link) which documented that dark time with photographs online.
Now Mr. Adel is back with another website, the Free Kuwait website (link) which documents the events and efforts of the Free Kuwait movement and campaign in London where Mr. Adel was during the invasion. We were in London too. My father helped out by designing many logos and posters used in that time. I wrote about his designs once when they were showcased in an exhibition in the avenues without giving him any credit or mention here (post).
In the Free Kuwait website you will see memorabilia, documents, events, and most importantly pictures of the Kuwaiti in London during the invasion. If you were in London or know someone who was, take a look and browse through the endless pictures. I spent an entire day going through the pictures and checking my family and even my classmates during the invasion.
So go ahead and take a look. The experience is epic if I may say so. If you recognize someone please email the website admin on info@freekuwait.org.kw with the picture number and name of the person so they can add the name in the caption. They need to identify as many Kuwaitis as possible.
So go on, check http://freekuwait.org.kw and remember that we will never, never, ever forget. Forgetting is not an option. Read this story on 2:48 AM’s blog and tell me if forgetting is possible (link) wan If you haven’t been around to witness or remember, then you have your chance now.
I was trying to read something in Wikipedia when all of a sudden this black page comes on and won’t budge! What legislation? What happened? I thought the politic turmoil was concentrated in the Middle East? Has it reached the USA and effecting the internet?!
I am already imagining life with limited internet and I am panicking! What is going on? I don’t want to read on and on of political rubbish. If you can explain it simply to me please do. Should we do something? If it is a US legislation thing can our voices be heard? If not then it is totally unfair for our voices to be cast away when when a decision like that is going to effect every single human being using the internet on the planet!
